David Kilgallon, LICSW
With nearly fifteen years of professional experience in the counseling field, I have had the privilege of working with a wide variety of individuals, families, and groups throughout a diverse continuum of community, residential, and secure settings. I strive to create a safe, supportive, honest environment for the people that I serve. My goal is to provide you hope and assistance navigating the challenges encountered in the day-to-day grind that life can be at times.
Prior to opening Calm Harbors Counseling in 2019, I spent six years as the Clinical Director of a twelve bed, long-term residential, substance abuse treatment program for adolescents ages 13-18 affiliated with the juvenile justice system. My role in this position focused on providing individual clinical supervision to a team of clinical staff while working with a small caseload of individual clients to identify and overcome a wide variety of challenges. Additional past experiences include having spent significant time as a community-based provider, working with adolescents and their family's as a clinician in the Home-Based Family Services program. Prior to that, I have valuable experience in a psychiatric hospital setting, conducting individual and family therapy with teenagers in an inpatient mental health setting. Further professional experience, includes working with adults as a substance abuse counselor in a secure correctional facility.
Upon obtaining a Bachelor of Social Work degree from Westfield State College in Westfield, MA, I received a Master of Social Work degree from Simmons College Graduate School of Social Work in Boston, MA.
In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my family, including my two dogs, Lila and Annie. I am an avid sports fan, following the Bruins, Patriots, Red Sox and Celtics. During the warmer months, I like spending time on the water or relaxing near on the beach. In the winter I enjoy skiing, traveling, working with my hands, and watching stand-up comedy specials on Netflix.
